Department of Agriculture launches halal food program in Cotabato City

  • The Department of Agriculture alongside 10 other line agencies launched here on Monday the halal food industry program (HFIP) aimed at propelling a robust Philippine participation in the world’s multi-billion dollar Islamic industry.
  • Undersecretaries Eduardo Gonggona and Ranaibai Dilangalen represented in the launching ceremony Agriculture Manny Piñol, who together with other national cabinet officials joined President Duterte in his visit also on Monday in Sultan Kudarat province to distribute land ownership certificates to 1,680 agrarian reform family-beneficiaries.
  • Mangudadatu also endorsed the adoption into the halal program of Maguindanao’s inaul fabric weaving to produce Islam-prescribed clothes that can be produced for local and foreign Muslim consumers.
  • DA-HFIP technical workers said they will officially cite the Maguindanao provincial government next year for its halal industry-related initiatives.
  • The DA awarded on Monday 19 entities and individuals, including the local governments of Cotabato, Davao, and Zamboanga cities for opening halal slaughter houses and organizing related councils.
